Lighting is an absolute top priority for me in both my home and my classroom. I am a firm believer that overhead fluorescent lighting creates the worst learning environment for young students! Susan Fitzell and her research fully support and explain the importance of natural lighting in the classroom. I keep a copy of her research on hand for anyone who gives me trouble about having lamps versus overhead lights!
Inspiration at its best! This site has pictures from TONS of different room styles and genres. When I am feeling like changing it up in my room, I pour through the pictures and always find helpful ideas. Plus, it is just plain fun to peer into other classrooms and workspaces!

Before moving into my first classroom, this website was my BEST FRIEND. Schoolgirl Style offers the most amazing and incredible classroom design ideas…and most of what you see is for sale!! I created my classroom based on one of her designs and since then, other teachers have copied MY classroom. That says it all.
I can’t tell you how many posters I went through trying to create blueprints for how I wanted my room to look…it was exhausting and a giant waste of paper! This site allows you to digitally get an idea of how you can rearrange your space…and you save trees at the same time!!
