I am a huge Teachers Pay Teachers fan, and I have purchased numerous products, including these reading mini-lessons. The Middle School Minis happen to be free which makes it even better! In addition to being free, this product offers great templates for implementing and evaluating your own Reading Workshop.
Our school purchased this book for each of the English teachers, and I absolutely loved it! I really appreciated that he organized his text with an entire year glance. I like to think big picture so this style really appealed to me. There were also a lot of ideas and examples included, along with a template that helped me create my own Reader’s Workshop from scratch.
I found this blog to be the most helpful of all the resources I used. It is full of strategies and real examples of the Reading Workshop in action, and the webinar presentation is a great guide to help you get started.
Our English department was required to use Reading Workshops in our classrooms, and I didn't learn about this until a week prior to school starting. I was a little frightened about trying to incorporate this into my lessons on such short notice, but thankfully I found this blog post. This resource includes a ton of mini-lessons that take the time and guesswork out of using the Reading Workshop model.
This is the guide that my trainer used to introduce the Reading Workshop Model. I think this is a very comprehensive powerpoint, but it is highly theory based and long. If you are interested in the theory behind this model or you do not have any background on the subject, I think this is a great starting point.
