Diving Deep with AP English Literature: Getting Kids to Scuba, not Snorkel!

In AP English Literature, we lay the groundwork for deep, critical thinking with students by doing multiple readings of texts and using guiding questions.   A film clip invites students to examine a first reading and then a second reading once they understand the context of it within the whole story.  Close reading questions involve getting students to look at small chunks of text, often the first lines, with a critical eye for what the author is doing.
