Minecraft in Education

Microsoft recently acquired MinecraftEdu and released an expanded version of the software called Minecraft: Education Edition. What does this mean for educators? It means that Minecraft can be utilized to teach a variety of subjects including Engineering, Math, Science, Language Arts and History. Here you’ll find all the resources and support to get you started with using Minecraft in your teaching practice. Be sure to check out the tutorial that will teach you how to use controls, crafting and the features unique to the Education Edition. Additionally, you’ll be able to download starter Worlds with supporting lesson plans.

    In search of a little more clarity as to how Minecraft can be utilized in Education? This Google site will do just that …. created by a computer teacher using Minecraft in his teaching practice. The site even includes quotes from his students on why they feel Minecraft is important to their learning. I also love the links to web-resources that support learning with Minecraft. The Minecraft minded teacher also lists his rules for using Minecraft in an educational context.
