Class Dojo; the K-8 Tech Infused Classroom Management System

There are many tools, or I should say "tricks", that teachers use to try and keep their class running smoothly. From marble jars, to elaborate ticket systems, there are many creative options out there. I have a vast number of students as an art teacher, so the storage of those systems and keeping in touch with parents individually was too difficult. Technology, especially ClassDojo, makes this so much simpler for you and fun for them!

  • Lori Vilagos says:
As many teachers know, keeping parents involved in all the workings of the classroom really shows students not only that you care to show their parents how well they are doing, but also that they will be held accountable when they aren't doing well. Class Dojo makes communicating with parents very easy! Using a messenger system will keep your phone number private but allow quick messages to be sent back and forth with parents.

ClassDojo has numerous features, from a built-in timer to a class story wall. Using this link will help in finding interesting ways to use all that ClassDojo has to offer.

There are many features to ClassDojo besides individualized rewards and parent communication. This teacher discusses how to use the Class Dojo Groups feature! I love that the author has a periscope at the end of the article to give us a visual on how to use it alongside her article.

What a great resource-filled article! The author analyzes debates between teachers in the use of ClassDojo for extrinsic rewards versus building upon their intrinsic motivation. One teacher found a gray area to use ClassDojo for both! I loved the scholarly article about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation!
