Teaching Secondary Schoolers The Art of Show Don't Tell

Sure, the sentence, "The cat had green eyes," is grammatically correct, but it lacks the panache of something like, "The glowing green eyes pierced the darkness as the cat shifted his sly gaze from side to side." Students will have a number of opportunities to show-off their show-don't-tell skills with these writing activities and exercises.

This resource is great for two reasons. One, it offers a number of excellent examples that really highlight the art of show not telling. Two, the examples in each "Telling" category can be placed in front of your students so they have a chance to creatively practice their show-don't-tell skills.
