John Adams Presidency

The Alien and Sedition Acts set a dangerous precedent for the government's ability to stifle dissent and limit people's personal freedoms. It sometimes seems like a distant memory to us, but it is important for students to imagine what such governmental actions would look like if they were to occur today. This unit provides a project and a simulated letter to make this come alive for students today and requires them to analyze more modern examples of such horrific acts.
